September 24th, 2007Guess Who’s Back In Business?

Well, not completely, but I’m going to give Internet Marketing another try.  My day’s have been really busy lately, but I’ve been short on money, and have a few good ideas I would like to expand on.   That said, I’m looking for a few PHP/MySQL coders to help me develop a few sites, so please contact me if you’re available for some light work.

I’m going to be working primarily on Text Me Free, another free text messaging website.  I decided to stick with what I know, and the online text messaging niche is something that I am somewhat familiar with.  I have a few great ideas on how to generate a little bit of buzz around the website, and possibly get it “dugg”.  I’m also going to be selling Fake Send to a co-worker of mine for around $200, which isn’t a bad deal at all considering that I invested around $100 in developing it and its got a PR (3, if I am not mistaken).

In other news, I purchased an iPhone recently and hacked it so that I could install 3rd party apps on it.  Its sick right now, its only downfall being that I’m not able to synchronize it with my Outlook calendar/contacts/tasks at work.  Anyways, please get at me if you can code, and wish me luck with my new endeavors.

sneaky-ninja.gifIf you haven’t joined Pay Per Post (aff) yet, and you own a blog, I seriously recommend you join, like, right now. Stop reading this post and go sign up. Anyways, on the older version of my blog (before I was hacked), I used to be a little sneaky with them. As everybody knows, the newest posts on blogs get the most exposure as they are always on top and above the fold. The older posts get fewer and fewer hits as you post more often. We also know that Pay Per Post pays you a flat rate per post that you make on your blog, regardless of how much traffic you send them. You also know that Wordpress has this really nifty “Post Timestamp” feature, which allows you to future date posts (and also back date them). Can you see where I am going with this?

Theoretically, you could backdate an offer for Pay Per Post so that it never even made it to your blog’s homepage, and the editors at Pay Per Post would probably never know, especially if your permalink structure did not include the date in it. I tried this out a few times in my old blog. If you are producing a new post each day, then you can easily backdate a post for Pay Per Post 4 days or so before your current post and it will be approximately half way down your homepage. You are still giving the advertisers what you want, while sending them a little less traffic. What do you care? I mean, its obvious that people buying posts on your blog don’t care how much traffic you send them….You are still giving them the service they paid for.

1166875597.jpg What are you’re thoughts on this, do you see this as scamming Pay Per Post, or do you see my side of it and how no one should really care where the post goes in your blog. They aren’t paying you to send traffic, they are paying you to send them some link love. Until they change their TOS (which I haven’t read to even see if this is permitted), I will continue to put any PPP posts that I do, if any, probably in the middle of my homepage. My PPP posts usually look like spam anyways, and I don’t really think that my readers are too happy when I come out with those spammy posts. Oh, and thanks Kung Fu Rodeo for the Sneaky Ninja pic!

Blog Updates

I spent a great deal of my time today adding a Photo Gallery and pictures to said photo gallery. There’s a picture of the A2 Business Blog t-shirt in there, so good look for it! Also, the photo gallery is where I will put pictures of people who submit pictures of themselves in my t-shirts. Please let me know what you think of my photo gallery and of the little random pictures widget in my sidebar. Thanks!

June 28th, 2007How to Handle Criticism

behead.jpg

I recently started offering few online services on a few webmaster forums across the internet, and the main amount of my replies were quite mean. All of you know what I am talking about. Those people who go completely out of their way to ruin your thread and try to make you look like a total fool. I’m going to link you right now to a thread that I posted over at Digitalpoint. Please refrain from commenting on what I was actually offering in that thread. If you’d like to talk about that, then please contact me and we can chat. Without further ado, here is a thread that I created in the DP forums. Note that moron who completely went out of his way to try and discredit what I was selling. My reply was mild, given the nature of the DP forums, so if you want to see what I replied when language wasn’t an issue, check out the same thread in WF.

I’m not saying that I handle criticism perfectly, and I know that sometimes I handle it completely the wrong way (especially from my mom, in real life). Still, more and more often I’m faced with people who get so angry online for some measly criticism, and take it upon themselves to threaten me and spam my emails and cell phone with useless threats and stuff like that. I always believe that a cool and calm response will disarm anyone who is criticizing you just to be mean. Please note that I am not talking about constructive criticism in this post, because constructive criticism is always great to hear and you should appreciate anyone you know who is able to give you their honest and unbiased opinion of something.

When you are criticized, you should think if it is deserved or undeserved. If you deserved the criticism, than you should consider correcting whatever you were criticized for and then simply forget about it. If it was undeserved, then you should definitely not brood on it, especially if it came from someone ignorant or in a rude manner. At any rate, definitely don’t give a critic the satisfaction of knowing that he has hit a soft spot on you by losing your cool. Always try to turn the tables on them and make them look like the immature idiot. If you look at the picture to the right, you can see that a lot of Muslims don’t know how to take any criticism whatsoever. Beheading people over cartoons and only insignificant things is just plain retarded, and I also think that arguing over the internet is as retarded as that. I hope you think of this post when you are faced with losers who try to put you down, don’t let them get the best of you, they are not worth your time.

Random Stuff

I forgot to mention in my other post that I had redid my About page and added pictures to it, rewrote my Advertise page, and my Post Archive and Top Posts pages are now both automatically updated by two different Wordpress plugins. Please give me your opinion on all my new pages, I really value your criticism, even if you make it rude ;). Also, I’ve shipped out the last of my A2 Business Blog T-shirts, if you didn’t get one, I’m sorry, I ran out of them faster than expected as I gave a few to some friends and all my smalls went to girls. Don’t forget to take a picture of yourself in the A2-Blog.com shirt when you do receive and and include a backlink to this blog. I’d love to rank for the term business blog (hint hint).

right foot

As most of you probably know, my blog was hacked, defaced, and mutilated this past Sunday, which also happened to be Father’s Day. They used a WordPress exploit, and it was 100% my fault that my blog got hit, because I had forgotten to update to the most recent version. I think my outlook on things sometimes is too optimistic. Friends kept telling me to upgrade my WordPress, and I kept stalling and putting it off, basically because I never thought that anyone would want to take the time to mess with my blog. I also didn’t feel like uploading the backups of my previous posts because I wanted to take this opportunity to blog on the right foot. I now finally have the opportunity to fix the errors that A2-Blog.com 1.0 had, mainly the whole mess with my categories names and slugs, and also my mess with plugins. I’m going to do everything right this time around.

A2-Blog.com T-Shirts!

That’s right folks! I am trying out some interesting ways of advertising as of late, and the first of my experiments is giving out A2 Network Business Blog t-shirts. I ordered a total of 24 shirts, at $4 a piece, and I’ve already given out 6 shirts! I am giving out t-shirts for free while supplies last, and all I ask is that you take a picture of yourself in the shirt and provide a linkback to either my blog or this post (or both!). The shirts are pretty witty, but I’m not going to tell you what they say, so I guess you’ll have to wait till someone else takes a picture of them self in one! Just comment on this post if you’d like a free shirt, they will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis, with the exception that friends of mine get preference over random people.

New Blog Design

One of my recent acquaintances, Scot Smith, recommended this theme for me and I liked it, for the most part. I’m a big fan of the color blue, and I liked how this theme looked. Let me know if you have any suggestions on how I can make this theme nicer, or if you have any suggestions for plugins. I think the only plugin that I am missing is the Top Commentators one, which will be up and running shortly. Also, let me know if you see any errors when browsing my blog. This theme is designed to work in both IE and FF, but plugins usually break everything in IE.

I Got a “Real Job”

firehouse subs In a desperate attempt to make some money offline, I decided to apply for a job in various restaurants. My first choice for a job would have been retail, but trust me, its not so easy to find a job in retail when you are a minor and have no car. After many, many job applications and a couple of interviews, I finally got a job at a restaurant that is about to open near me called Firehouse Subs. I don’t even know what my job is yet (cashier/sandwich maker/maybe all?), and I’ve only been to one training day so far. Still, this is probably my first job in a fast-paced environment, because my Saturday morning job at my church can’t really count as a real job. At any rate, wish me luck, I get my first raise once I pass the menu quiz!
